It felt like forever, but Captain Cookie has opened its doors in Cleveland Park. Their soft opening started today, with an official opening set for Saturday, September 9th. The setup is simple, with a few stools by the front window, and a couple of tables before the sales counter. Cool ceiling-to-floor artwork greets you as you walk inside, and there were a few paintings set to hit the walls over the next couple of days. Other than that, clean and spacious.

This special offering will be available from August 26, 2017 through the February 4, 2018 Super Bowl. Each platter selection serves approximately 15 people, and all orders must be placed by 12 noon, 48 hours in advance of pickup. Pickup times are daily, from 11 AM to 12 noon or 3 PM to 6 PM daily.

The reasons are many (lack of foot traffic, parking, etc.) However, there's always room for a family-owned establishment, that strives to win you over with homemade everything, friendly/stellar service and a little word I like to call accountability. Off nights are rare; and if you're (really, really) lucky, you may discover a culinary home away from home. Bastille Restaurant & Wine Bar is such a place.

Addition by subtraction? NKD Pizza dropped a couple of vowels (formerly Naked Pizza) but their recent rebranding looks and tastes miles better than before. We stopped by their surprisingly spacious Ballston location, and immediately fell in "heavy like" with a thinner crust, house-made sauces and two different (yet equally delicious) varieties of chicken wings. Perhaps it's time for all of us to ditch our vowels?

You have our permission to scream out your approval: Lord knows, we already did.

This review makes four total for Bolt Burgers. That ties Noodles & Company for top honors (in terms of frequency) which bodes well for a restaurant that relies on return business. My last visit produced some rare disappointment; so I was eager to make sure that things were "back to snuff" at one of my favorite burger joints. After yesterday's trip, I'm happy to report... The bolt is back in Bolt Burgers.
