Mission Dupont Twitter/X Food Review

Mission Dupont's Mexican Chile Wings

Mission: Overdone

Prior (dine-in) visits to @missiondupont have been great, but tonight’s delivery (via @DoorDash) left me disappointed, with 1️⃣ notable exception. Mission’s Arrachera Steak Taco ($7.50) was small but packed with steak. Unfortunately tough & overdone 🥩 ☹️ Late in the day perhaps? But no excuse. Vibrant cilantro & jalapeños subsequently got lost in the mix. D More disappointing? Mexican Chile Wings ($17.95) which were even more overdone. 8 wings with an A+ rub, cooked to death. I’ve had ‘em before (normally awesome) so I was really surprised. So surprised, I barely finished 3. D- (Thank God for the rub!) The aforementioned notable exception? A bag of $4.95 Chips & Salsa that seemed to come from Heaven above. Impossibly light but crispy chips & a perfectly zesty salsa (not thick, but delicious.) A (So good, they almost saved this meal.)

Grade: D+ (High expectations went unmet.)

One Fish, Two Fish Twitter/X Food Review

Drunken Noodles with Chicken at One Fish, Two Fish

Surprise, Surprise 😮

Friendly, quick delivery from One Fish, Two Fish in Georgetown. Might not look like much from across the street; but the food is really good, starting with a $3.55 cup of Miso Soup (nice but a little salty) B- followed by surprisingly tasty crinkle-cut French Fries ($5.25) B. Then things get… interesting. As in extra good. 3 gigantic Chicken Wings (a steal at just $7.59) were hot (sans BBQ sauce, which I forgot to apply) and chock-full  of perfectly cooked meat. Even the skin was tasty. A- Last but certainly not least, a HUGE portion of Drunken Noodles with Chicken ($13.95) which easily feeds 2! Tons of chicken, all kinds of extras (carrots!) and zesty noodles = another A-. Affordable, plentiful & yummy.

Thai Station Twitter/X Food Review

Drunken Noodles at Thai Station

Bait and Switch

There's an old joke that ends in, "Beige, I think I'll paint the ceiling beige." It has something to do with dull and uninspiring, the same thoughts I had while eating takeaway from Thai Station (incorrectly advertised as @SalaThai_DC on @wonder!) last night. The latter would be ashamed to be associated with anything this bland, so let's reiterate... this was Thai Station in Brentwood. Station's Chicken Wings (an apparent deal at $8.95) turned out to be only four unflavored wings, screaming for (any kind of) sauce. D As for the aforementioned beige, look no further than a large portion of Drunken Noodles that had zero heat (asked for medium spicy, received bland instead) for $16.95. The price was right, but I expected more than two measly strips of red pepper and half a cherry tomato, surrounded by beige (and opaque beige) chunks of dry chicken and (stuck-together) noodles. I can live with a lack of color, but no heat is unforgivable.) D (At least the noodles are a very generous portion.) Next time, I'll double check that the restaurant I'm ordering from, matches where it actually comes from (Wonder gets an F for that.)

Little Beast Cafe & Bistro Twitter/X Retro Food Review

Tomato Bisque at Little Beast Cafe & Bistro

Now That's a Combo

Retro Review (12/30/25) For such a little (pun intended) menu, the folks at @LittleBeastCafe sure know how to please. This end-of-the-year visit featured a break from their standout pizza, but still produced near-orgasmic reactions. Great service ALWAYS, and a to-die-for Tomato Bisque (sans the Grilled Cheese) with equally lethal (in a great way) Classic Buffalo Wings. Said wings (15 bucks) are huge, crispy and chock-full of fleshy, perfectly-cooked meat inside. The buffalo sauce is just the right amount, so as not to overwhelm. A (possibly the best wings in DC.) As for the soup, it demands to be placed on the menu by its lonesome (so everyone can enjoy.) Perfect texture and flavor. A+

Wisemiller's Grocery & Deli Twitter/X Food Review

Wisemiller's Grocery & Deli's Quarter Pounder

Ordering delivery has its advantages. Case in point, @WisemillerD & its (mere) $6.95 Quarter Pounder, a burger that actually over delivers on size (closer to a half pound) & taste, surprisingly topping our list of DMV’s best budget burgers. A- Their French Fries are good too (clean, soft) and cheap ($3.95) B. Chicken Wings (6 for $9.95) are crispy & generously sized, but dry and overcooked. C- Last (and least) 1️⃣ of the worst Pastrami Sandwiches 🥪 I’ve ever had in my life. Lettuce & tomato by default (why?) resulted in a soggy mess with crusty, flavorless pastrami in between. It wasn’t overpriced ($8.75) but tasted awful. F All in all, a literal mixed bag, but worth the (burger & fries) find.

Grade:
B- (Fixing the sandwich should be easy. Now do it.)

Gordon Ramsay Street Burger Food Review

Hell's Kitchen Smash Burger with French Fries at Gordon Ramsay Street Burger

Lost in Transit

Retro Review (1/15/26) Gordon Ramsay and delivery doesn't sound like a marriage made in culinary Heaven, but midday trips to downtown Penn Quarter sometimes require shortcuts. After a successful visit to Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza last May, expectations were high, but DoorDash hasn't figured out time travel yet. Our order arrived at 2:02 PM, way past their promised 1:28-1:47 PM window. Considering we ordered it at 12:43 PM... you can probably guess how this goes (especially after spending almost $40 for a burger, fries and a few wings.) The Hell's Kitchen Smash Burger sounded promising (two double smash patties, Hell's salsa and a spicy tomato chutney) but looked otherwise. Taste was problematic too... bland, cold and dull. D (Must have been better hot.) Fries were skin-on, with salt & pepper, but (also) cold & flimsy. D- Their Wings (6-count) were decidedly nicer, both in appearance and flavor. Slightly cold, they still tasted hotter (G.F.C. sauce is considered mild, but I was impressed) and had plenty of meat. B (Again, probably better fresh.)

Grade: D+ (It's not Ramsay's fault, but it is what it is. They certainly deserve a second (dine-in) chance.)

Nando's PERi-PERi (Woodley Park) Food Review II

PERi-PERi Wings at Nando's PERi-PERi

Back at @NandosUSA (Woodley Park) & my only complaint is what took me so long? Quite possibly the most flavorful wings in the DMV (Peri Buffalo) cooked magnificently with visible char. Salty, zesty fries & 2 soft (but scrumptious) slices of garlic bread. Inside? Vibrant Afro-Dancehall mix of music, ft. Jaziel Bros. & Nisha Ts (nice!) and Nando’s always welcoming customer service. If you like your chicken 🍗 with flavor, look 👀 no further.

Grade: A- (unreal wings!)

Wing Trip Twitter/X Food Review

Boneless Tandoori Wings at Wing Trip

Our love affair with #Wonder continues, tonight at Wing Trip and some of the most amazing, delectable boneless wings in the DMV. Boneless Tandoori Wings (6 for $10.20) are sooo good. For starters, we got an extra 2 wings (gratis) and they are 100% bursting/infused with advertised Indian spices that rival the best Indian restaurants. They’re incredibly flaky and the A+ tamarind chutney literally transcends it to another universe. It also comes with cilantro 🌿 sauce, which is pretty good 2. A+ Their $5.49 Togarashi Fries promise even more spice (including seaweed) but they were hard to taste. Also, a tad cold but passable. B- Can’t miss boneless wings = another winner 🏆.

Overall Grade: B+

Spice Kraft Indian Bistro Twitter/X Food Review

Spice Kraft Indian Bistro's Tandoori Chicken Wings

Excellent service & even better food makes Spice Kraft Indian Bistro our choice for Best Indian Restaurant in Virginia. That’s serious praise after only 1 visit, but why delay the inevitable? Dinner with Talia opens with a $5 Naan Flight featuring the best naan bread (flaky, hot, perfect) I’ve ever had, and a trio of sauces that demand to be bottled (saag sauce #1.) Pair that with a @kingfisherworld 🍺 (as good as @Heineken) and you’re halfway to Heaven. Just as tasty? Masala Fries $5.85 cooked in chickpea oil & served with cilantro 🌿 ranch sauce😋 and 5 gorgeous Tandoori Chicken Wings (with mint chutney) for only $9.45. Toss in Talia’s company & it’s a miracle I ever left.

Grade: A+ (Cue many happy returns.)

Applebees Twitter/X Food Review

Riblets with Fries & Cole Slaw at Applebee's

More Is Less

Couldn’t wait for @Applebees All You Can Eat, but it didn’t take long to regret going. Surly service, excruciatingly long waits (done on purpose, we believe) and awful food plagued my first and last visit to this soulless corporate entity. Gross Cole Slaw with mystery greens, average fries & boneless wings (meh tenders dunked in buffalo sauce) are utterly forgettable. Sadly, it will be impossible to forget the worst Riblets ever made. Tender as an old shoe with an overly sweet honey BBQ glop & literally unchewable bits that I had to spit out not once, but twice ☹️ Great pretzel (minus 2 sauces) but overall, one of the worst meals I’ve ever had.

Laredo Twitter/X Food Review

Crispy Chicken Wings at Laredo

A Mixed Bag

Beautiful night for eating outside at @laredo_dc. Disappointing start (paltry chips & salsa) but no complaints about food quality, starting with piping hot Empanadas Colombianas (beef) & glorious salsa verde ($10) B followed by a quartet of fluffy & delicious Fried Yucca ($6.99) A- and Crispy Chicken Wings (7 for $16.99) B- Great batter, average amount of meat + zesty buffalo sauce (for dipping only.) Annoyingly small water glasses, tacky charge for “extra” pico de gallo & a wobbly table to boot.

Grade: C+ (Food > service)
