Chang Chang Twitter/X Food Review

Chang Chang's Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs

So-So

Relatively disappointing “Chang out” from Chang Chang. $4 Hot & Sour Soup provided a cold start. Bitter with a syrupy texture D $2 Purple Rice was a bad idea (clumpy) D $13 Chili Wontons were a bit better, nicely sized with plenty of pork & shrimp 🍤 filling and a strong dose of chili 🌶️ but not much else. C+ Best for last? $16 Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs. Tons of ‘em. Lots of meat (came clean off) not too salty with a rich sauce B+ Looking forward to a “Chang in” next time (great looking dining room) but today’s lunch? Meh.

Grade: C (Affordable, but average.)

P.J. Clarke's Twitter/X Food Review

The PJs 1884 Cheeseburger (sans cheese) at P.J. Clarke's

Cold as Ice

@PJClarkes is less than 3 miles away from home, but a burger & fries shouldn’t take an hour + 20 minutes to arrive (on a Sunday night) should it? The PJs 1884 Cheeseburger ($24, sans cheese) arrived RARE (requested medium) with ice cold fries in a paper bag. What a shame, as the burger was generously sized (good quality meat) and the shoestring fries were somehow tasty despite their temperature. Not sure what happened, but the end result = mass disappointment.

Thai Station Twitter/X Food Review

Drunken Noodles at Thai Station

Bait and Switch

There's an old joke that ends in, "Beige, I think I'll paint the ceiling beige." It has something to do with dull and uninspiring, the same thoughts I had while eating takeaway from Thai Station (incorrectly advertised as @SalaThai_DC on @wonder!) last night. The latter would be ashamed to be associated with anything this bland, so let's reiterate... this was Thai Station in Brentwood. Station's Chicken Wings (an apparent deal at $8.95) turned out to be only four unflavored wings, screaming for (any kind of) sauce. D As for the aforementioned beige, look no further than a large portion of Drunken Noodles that had zero heat (asked for medium spicy, received bland instead) for $16.95. The price was right, but I expected more than two measly strips of red pepper and half a cherry tomato, surrounded by beige (and opaque beige) chunks of dry chicken and (stuck-together) noodles. I can live with a lack of color, but no heat is unforgivable.) D (At least the noodles are a very generous portion.) Next time, I'll double check that the restaurant I'm ordering from, matches where it actually comes from (Wonder gets an F for that.)

Gordon Ramsay Street Burger Food Review

Hell's Kitchen Smash Burger with French Fries at Gordon Ramsay Street Burger

Lost in Transit

Retro Review (1/15/26) Gordon Ramsay and delivery doesn't sound like a marriage made in culinary Heaven, but midday trips to downtown Penn Quarter sometimes require shortcuts. After a successful visit to Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza last May, expectations were high, but DoorDash hasn't figured out time travel yet. Our order arrived at 2:02 PM, way past their promised 1:28-1:47 PM window. Considering we ordered it at 12:43 PM... you can probably guess how this goes (especially after spending almost $40 for a burger, fries and a few wings.) The Hell's Kitchen Smash Burger sounded promising (two double smash patties, Hell's salsa and a spicy tomato chutney) but looked otherwise. Taste was problematic too... bland, cold and dull. D (Must have been better hot.) Fries were skin-on, with salt & pepper, but (also) cold & flimsy. D- Their Wings (6-count) were decidedly nicer, both in appearance and flavor. Slightly cold, they still tasted hotter (G.F.C. sauce is considered mild, but I was impressed) and had plenty of meat. B (Again, probably better fresh.)

Grade: D+ (It's not Ramsay's fault, but it is what it is. They certainly deserve a second (dine-in) chance.)

Paisano's Pizza Food Review

16" Large Sausage Pizza

As a rule, I try to avoid pizza delivery, but $8.99 for a 16" one-topping pie is hard to resist. Paisano's Pizza left some coupons/vouchers in our lobby; and a rare night at home allowed me the opportunity to finally try the #1 Pizza in DC, Maryland and Virginia (as voted by WTOP listeners.) I came this close to stopping by their Georgetown location a few days ago. The same pizza I ordered tonight would have cost me $14.79 + tax. I got it for $8.99 + tax and a $3 delivery surcharge (plus a $4 cash tip.) Looking back, it would have been cheaper to carry out, but way less convenient. Price notwithstanding, the more important question is... did it taste good? Read on.

Ledo Pizza Food Review II

Create Your Own Pizza with Sausage & Red Onions

It's been over four years since my last visit to/from Ledo Pizza. A once bi-monthly pilgrimage, fond memories had since been replaced by disappointment (yucky burger leaps to mind.) Time to rectify the situation. Pizza delivery.

George's King of Falafel & Cheesesteak Food Review

Falafel Sandwich

First the good news, Postmates handled the delivery perfectly. Order in at 3:23 PM. Estimated delivery time? 4:00 PM. Arrival? Direct to my apartment door, 4 o'clock sharp. Impressive. Now on to the food... unfortunately. George's King of Falafel & Cheesesteak is located in Georgetown (just under three miles away) so I wasn't expecting fresh & hot. I was however, looking for flavor. Color me disappointed on all fronts.

KoChix Food Review

Combo Wings and Drumsticks

God bless Caviar, DC's latest (and best?) food delivery service: Without Caviar, I might never have had a chance to discover KoChix, Shaw's answer to BonChon and quite possibly DC's best Korean chicken makers (at least until BonChon opens at The Yards later this year.)

New Concessions for GW Basketball

The George Washington men's basketball team opens a new season this Saturday with a 2:00 PM exhibition vs. Bloomsburg. While I'm very excited to see the Colonials back in action, I'm even more excited to start chowing down on brand new concessions! R&R Catering has partnered with GW; and will operate four different concession stands on the concourse level, in addition to delivering food directly to your seat via Dasdak. Adios to standing in line! Can a Final Four appearance be far behind?

O'Tasty Chinese Restaurant Food Review

10 Pc. Buffalo Wings with French Fries

"Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." Granted, this is the pseudo creed of the United States Postal Service; but it could just as easily apply to the delivery guy from O'Tasty Chinese Restaurant in Adams Morgan. It ain't easy delivering food in the nation's capital... especially on the same day as an 8" snow storm that shut down the Federal Government; but that didn't stop my Foodler order from arriving an hour after I placed it.

Rome Pizza & Sub Food Review

Hamburger with French Fries

I wanted to give Delivery.com another chance; so I keyed in an order for Rome Pizza & Sub earlier tonight, and waited with bated breath. Rome P&S took over the corner of Wisconsin Ave. & Fessenden St., NW from Armand's Chicago Pizzeria... former home to the best pizza window ever in the District. For whatever reason (Pete's New Haven Style Apizza just happens to be right across the street) I haven't had a chance to try Rome Pizza & Sub... until tonight.
