Olivia celebrates the ideal summer wine during June, featuring different rosés each week

For the month of June, Olivia, Knightsbridge Restaurant Group’s charming and rustic Mediterranean eatery located in the heart of the Penn Quarter at 800 F Street, NW, 20004, will celebrate Rosé with National Rosé Day being the second Saturday in June. The restaurant will be showcasing a variety of crisp, pink sparkling wines from Italy, France, Greece and Portugal for the entire month. Rosé is a dry wine that is brighter and more refreshing than many red wines and shares some characteristics with white wine. With its light effervescence and fresh effect on the palate, it is perfect for toasting to the longer days and warmer nights of summer. Guests can look forward to up to two different rosés to be introduced each week, from the same country of origin. During the last week of June, all eight of the thoughtfully selected rosés will be featured on Olivia’s wine menu. Glasses of rosé are priced from $8 to $10.

During the first week of June, the Italian featured rosés are Fattoria Sardi, Sangiovese Rosato 2018 from Tuscany, Italy, and Remo Farina, Corvina, Rondinella. Molinara, Bardolino 2018 from Chiaretto, Italy.  Next up are two featured rosés from France: Alain de la Treille, 'Le Rose', Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir 2018 from France, and Chateau Gassier, 'Esprit', Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Rolle 2018 from Cotes du Provence, France, and during the third week of June, from Greece a Domaine Costa Lazaridi, 'Amethystos', Merlot, Cabernet 2017 from Adriani Drama, Greece, and Kourtaki, Rhoditis, Apelia Attica NV from Attiki, Greece. During the final week, guests can sip on João Portugal Ramos, Vinhao, Vinho Verde 2018 from Minho, Portugal, and Quinta da Pacheca 2018 from Douro, Portugal.


For the perfect pairing, Chef Matt Kuhn’s Burrata with heirloom tomato, Zhug, and pickled strawberries will be available for the entire month for $15. Other standout dishes from Olivia’s harmonious menu include Tzatziki Labne with cucumber, basil, dill and trout roe; Spanish Albacore Tuna Rillette with charcuterie salad, niçoise olives and seven-minute egg; Charred Romanesco Cauliflower with squash hummus, pickled carrots, pomegranate and chermoula; Chickpea Ravioli with mushroom ‘Bolognese’ and pecorino fonduta; Spiced Merequez Meatballs with couscous and tomato shakshuka; Savory Chicken Bastilla with green harissa, pistachio and phyllo; Galician Style Octopus Carpaccio with paprika poached, pickled potatoes, peri-peri aioli and chicharron and Braised Short Rib Tagine with ancient grains, carrot hummus, rapini and Medjool dates. Dishes are priced from $6 to $32.
