Le DeSales Celebrates Bastille Day with A Special Menu & Magnum Pairings July 2-31

This July, Le DeSales, the contemporary casual French restaurant located in the heart of the Golden Triangle at 1725 DeSales Street, NW, will celebrate Bastille Day, commemorating the beginning of the French Revolution with the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. Guests who dine from July 2 through July 31 can savor Executive Chef/Partner Raphael Francois’ three-course, prix fixe menu featuring classic French dishes for $38 per person (excluding tax and gratuity.) The menu begins with a choice of Curled Lettuce with red onion, black sesame and Champagne ranch; Duck Paté with pistachios, smoked bourbon or pickles or Almaco Jack with lime, coconut and jalapeño, followed by an entrée choice of Cavatelli Pasta with mushroom duxelle, pine nuts and bacon crumble; Corn-Fed Chicken with pomegranate and brown cauliflower; Organic Sapphire Salmon with forbidden rice and watercress or Pork Loin with carrots and preserved lemon. For dessert, Francophiles can savor Chocolate Tart served in an almond tart shell and espresso gelato; Strawberries with vanilla gelato and meringue or Crème Brûlée “Classique” with muscovado sugar.

For the perfect pairing, guests can enjoy a 750ml bottle of Domaine du Pas de l’Escalette Coteaux du Languedoc Ze Rosé priced at $36 or opt for the 1.5L magnum bottle for a discounted $48 (regularly priced at $56.) Additionally, a red, white and blue-layered cocktail, Marie Antoinette, the last Queen of France before the French Revolution, will also be available for guests. Priced at $10, the drink is made from a combination of cherry liquor, Pernod and Curaçao.


WHEN: Monday, July 2 through Tuesday, July 31, exclusively during dinner service. Dinner is served Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 PM to 10 PM; Friday & Saturday, from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM.

WHY: Bastille Day is the name given in English-speaking countries to the French National Day, which is celebrated on 14 of July each year. In France, it is formally called La Fête nationale, and commonly Le quatorze juillet. The French National Day commemorates the beginning of the French Revolution with the Storming of the Bastille on July14, 1789, as well as the Fête de la Fédération, which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790.
