The "cupcake wars" have been over for some time, but it's never too late to celebrate the news that Sprinkles has officially bitten the dust in Georgetown. The local favorite shut its doors for good on New Year's Eve, giving little notice to its loyal customers (and staff.) We gave them a sterling review back in 2012, but they burned a bridge with yours truly soon after, and I avoided the place like the plague since. Luckily, rivals Baked & Wired and still über successful (lines don't lie) Georgetown Cupcake remain open nearby. We'll keep you posted on who takes over the space.
