And then was one. The once great Corner Bakery has closed its 1828 L Street location, leaving only one more DC location (struggling to stay) open. You can still visit National Press Building at 529 14th Street, NW (14th & F Streets) but I wouldn’t wait too long, especially if you have a gift card or app rewards.

The sign on the door said they were temporarily closed, but with recent closings at other locations, it would be a literal shock to see this reopen. Click here to see all of Corner Bakery's nationwide locations. They've already removed 1828 L Street from the list, which makes the "temporarily close" sign all the more insulting. According to Restaurant Business, Corner Bakery filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection back in February of this year.

On a personal note, I'm really going to miss this particular location, as I ate here with both my Mom and beloved Aunt. Special memories, and further proof that nothing lasts forever (especially for downtown cafes/restaurants.)
