Mio Celebrates Father's Day with Sunday Brunch

Complimentary Rum Tasting Awaits Dad as a Take-Home Gift from Mio

Manuel Iguina, owner of Mio Restaurant, located at 1110 Vermont Avenue, NW, is pleased to announce brunch service this Father's day, Sunday, June 21st. Fathers can join their families from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM and enjoy Mio's Puerto Rican cuisine with influences from Latin metropolises such as Lima, Ciudad de México, Caracas, La Havana, and San Juan, among others. Executive Chef Roberto Hernandez has created a brunch menu featuring an array of Puerto Rican specialties, as well as traditional brunch fare that accentuates the region’s seasonings and techniques with the best locally sourced ingredients. Additionally, all Dad's will receive a special complimentary gift bag of four, two-ounce bottles of flavored rums from Puerto Rico which include mojito, lemon, coconut and passion fruit.

Guests can look forward to a Father’s Day menu with highlights such as Ensalada de Remolacha Rostizado with a spring mix, roasted beets, dry papaya, granny smith apples, goat cheese, candied walnuts brown butter, and balsamic vinaigrette; Mio’s Ceviche Tropical with local fish, pineapple, mango, cantaloupe melon, fresh citrus, and Mio chips; Los Bennies with poached eggs over brioche, smoked ham, malanga latkes, sofrito verde, and Hollandaise sauce; Cangrejo de Concha Suave,soft-shell crab sandwich, with cole slaw, serrano chile remoulade, and a fried egg; Arepa con Huevo Frito,provolone stuffed arepa with a fried egg, black bean, and tomato; BBQ de Cerdo en Ciabatta, pulled pork sandwich with tamarind bbq sauce and spicy cole slaw; Lechón Asao, roasted suckling pig with pigeon pea rice and yucca “al mojo” tostones; Tostada Francesa de Guineo, banana bread French toast with cream cheese mousse and butter rum sauce; Sandwich de Gazpacho with salted cod fish, avocado, tomato, red onions, ciabatta bread, and Mio chips, as well as Chillo Frito,whole fried red snapper with tostones, avocado, and mojo isleño. Prices range from $6 to $26.


For the perfect pairing, deserving Father can enjoy hand crafted cocktails highlighting some of Latin America's most popular flavors and spirits.  Highlights include Spicy Pisco, Machu Pisco, aji amarillo, passion fruit, and lime sour; Whiskey con Coco Como en Piñones, Cutty Sark and coconut water; Mojito, Puerto Rican rum, mint, limes, and sugar; Caipirinha made with Cachaça, limes, and sugar, and Mio’s Old Fashioned, Barrillito 2 Stars, muddled maraschino cherries and oranges, and both sweet and dry vermouth bitters. Cocktails are priced from $6-$11.
