GW Gymnastics Ranked No. 19 in Nation After First Meet

Colonials Crack Top 20 For First Time Since 2001

Following its season-opening victory over the University of Maryland and West Virginia on Friday evening, the George Washington gymnastics team has garnered a national ranking of No. 19. Monday marks GW's first appearance in the national Top 20 since being ranked No. 20 in the final rankings of the 2001 season.

GW scored 194.325 on Friday night and earned a team event title on balance beam, along with individual titles in the all-around, vault and floor exercise, en route to a first-place finish at Maryland's Beauty and the Beast Meet.

Freshman Jillian Winstanley won the all-around title with a score of 39.00 while her classmate, Cami Drouin-Allaire, took the vault title with a score of 9.85.

Reigning East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Rookie of the Year Chelsea Raineri was also named co-champion on floor exercise after tying for first place with a score of 9.85.

GW will host the eighth annual Lindsey Ferris Invitational on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Charles E. Smith Center, the first of four regular-season home meets this season.
