Beef Bacon-Inspired Restaurant “Month” Specials at Smith & Wollensky

From our friends at Smith & Wollensky...

RAMW Restaurant Week Prix Fixe Dinner and Lunch Menus Offered Now Through January 31

Smith & Wollensky,Washington, DC is pleased to offer guests three-course prix-fixe dinner and lunch menus throughout the month of January, as an early start and extension to participation in Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) Winter 2015 Restaurant Week, January 19-25. Available for dinner ($35.15) and lunch ($20.15) now through January 31, Smith & Wollensky Restaurant “Month” specials feature a particularly meaty theme, highlighting a popular new item from the Winter Seasonal Menu... Beef Bacon! The three-course menus include several starter, entrée and dessert items that have a unique beef bacon “twist” - giving guests new ways to love bacon, and enjoy an approachable price point when dining out this January.

A few beef bacon inspired dishes on the Restaurant “Month” menus include Beef S&Wellington; beef bacon wrapped tenderloin tournedos with mushroom ragout and puff pastry, and Scallops and Beef Bacon with foraged mushrooms and balsamic glaze. The lunch menu features a kicked-up version of the famous Wollensky’s Butcher Burger, topped with beef bacon, aged cheddar and S&W Steak Sauce mayonnaise. For dessert, Dark Chocolate Candied Beef Bacon satisfies as both a sweet and savory ending.

Smith & Wollensky’s beef bacon, made from USDA Prime beef belly, is dry cured for five days and then house smoked over apple wood, creating a crispy texture, smoky flavor and especially savory after taste. Beef bacon has been primarily offered as a new mainstay appetizer and side dish on the  Winter Seasonal Menu, served with a tangy bleu cheese dip - a beefy entrée accompaniment that stands up to the  steakhouse’s 28-day dry-aged Prime steaks. On its addition to the menu, Executive Chef Matt King says, “Steak and bacon are my two favorite things, so combining them was a natural experiment.” Guests are encouraged to dine and try the Restaurant “Month” menu options that include beef bacon. For those who prefer an alternative, traditional steak, seafood and vegetarian options and modifications are available.
