Humble beginnings |
Georgetown has always seemed a logical destination for Good Stuff Eatery, Spike Mendelsohn's popular burger haven in Capital Hill and Crystal City. Earlier this year, we got wind that Spike & co. were taking over the former digs of Crêpe Amour at 3291 M Street. Judging by the pitter-patter going on behind closed doors, don't be surprised if Georgetowners are feasting on Farmhouse Burgers and Spike's Village Fries by the end of the month.
The Mendelsohn clan has been busy as bees of late, opening gorgeous Béarnaise earlier this month on the same block as the original GSE and We, the Pizza. I can't wait to see how the Georgetown space turns out, especially since it means I'll have less of a hike to go for my Spike's Sunnyside fix. The area has its fair share of burger joints, but I'm betting that GSE reigns supreme by year's end.
