@A24’s Backrooms is “a real mess.” For starters, it’s (way) different than your run-of-the-mill horror film. Trouble is, it also reminds one of several other (better) movies or TV shows (Lost, The Matrix, The Shining) without coming close to completion on its own. That’s fine for some, but not me. Kudos for creativity & daring, but I prefer my movies… a little less crazy.
Grade: C+ (For desperate fans & kids only.)
