The concerts at the Music Center in November feature a range of well-known, established artists, ensembles, and holiday hits that are guaranteed to warm up the cold nights ahead. Multi GRAMMY-winning mandolin virtuoso, composer, vocalist, and host of Live From Here Chris Thile kicks off the month with his distinct genre-bending style.

Under the Inspired Pairings theme that runs through the 2019-20 season, Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE teams up with GRAMMY-winning Afro-Cuban jazz artist Arturo O’Farrill to present the DC-area premiere of New Conversations, a new work featuring Brown’s blend of African, Caribbean, modern, and social dance styles with live music from O’Farrill.


This fall, young people with autism or sensory sensitivities are invited to join a Sensory-Friendly Backstage Tour and get a peek behind the scenes. A small group of guests will be allowed to stand on the stage, see the artists’ green rooms, learn about how the lights and sound work, and much more.

Multiple GRAMMY-winner and MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile, a member of Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek, and host of the radio program Live from Here, is a mandolin virtuoso, composer, and vocalist. With his broad outlook, Thile transcends the borders of conventionally circumscribed genres, creating a distinctly American canon and a new musical aesthetic.

Start your holiday season off right with an a cappella celebration featuring the award-winning men’s chorus The Alexandria Harmonizers. Recognized for their tight vocal harmonies and high-energy performances, the Harmonizers have performed at venues including the Kennedy Center, the Supreme Court, the White House, and Carnegie Hall, as well as in the Strathmore productions of I Am Harvey Milk/I Am Anne Hutchinson and Iron & Coal. Get ready for a selection of classic and contemporary holiday music in the Harmonizers’ signature four-part harmony style. The show also features 2006 International Quartet Champions Vocal Spectrum, and A CAPPELLA, the award-winning student chorus from Montgomery County’s James Hubert Blake High School.
