Chef Will Artley Pops Up at Bastille

Bastille Restaurant & Wine Bar

From our friends at Bastille Restaurant & Wine Bar...

Chefs Christophe & Michelle Poteaux Welcome Chef Will Artley for Pop-Up 2: The Sequel

Chef Will Artley will be ‘popping up’ again with chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux at Bastille restaurant offering a $59 prix fixe five-course tasting menu (optional wine pairings, an additional $35.) Chef Artley’s menu will be available along with Bastille’s standard seasonal menus from September 12-15. Chef will be ‘in residence’ at Bastille throughout the ‘pop-up.’

“We have a close relationship,” Chef Artley says. “When the opportunity arose to do a pop-up, Christophe and Michelle Poteaux agreed to host it at their restaurant.”

“We’re very happy to have Chef as a temporary part of the Bastille family,” Chef Christophe Poteaux added.

The ‘pop-up’ menu will reflect the style of Artley’s new restaurant affiliation, Scotts Restaurant, Bar & Cask Club, a “British Brasserie,” slated to open in downtown DC this coming fall. The five-course menu will include: tuna tartare with smoked balsamic, beets and sesame; popcorn Vichyssoise with smoked crab and charred avocado; sea scallops with cauliflower silk and raisin-eggplant jam; Onglet with mushroom fricassee; and for dessert, chocolate royale - Valrhona truffle cake with salted caramel, hazelnuts and Valrhona chocolate ice cream.

Chef Artley staged at prestigious restaurants such as Aquavit in New York City and at the renowned D’Amico Cucina in Minneapolis. In the DMV, he has worked at Colvin Run Tavern in Tyson's Corner, Virginia, and Kinkead’s and Butterfield 9 in Washington, DC. Later, Artley joined Neighborhood Restaurant Group’s Evening Star Café in Alexandria, VA, overseeing its kitchen for almost six years, before he was tapped to head the kitchen at Pizzeria Orso. His next step was to work as executive chef at BLT Steak in 2014, before relocating to spearhead the kitchens at Nonna’s Kitchen and then The Grist Mill. Most recently he has served as executive chef at Hotel Zamora by Kimpton where he oversaw the hotel’s dining venues and services. His love for DC has brought him back to town to lead the kitchen at Scotts Restaurant, Bar & Cask Club.

Chef Christophe Poteaux is a native of Paris, France who moved to the United States to focus on his culinary career. He has worked at New York’s Restaurant Daniel, the famed L’Orangerie and Jonathan Club In California. In 2003, Poteaux took the reins to revive Aquarelle at the Watergate Hotel.
