Single-game tickets for American University's home volleyball match with No. 1-ranked Stanford are selling quickly, and fans are suggested to place their order early.
The Cardinal visits Bender Arena on Sunday at 4 PM in the annual Bender Blue Out match. It will be the first time that a top-ranked team has played in Bender Arena.
American is the preseason choice to win the Patriot League in a recent poll. The Eagles placed three student-athletes on the preseason All-PL team, led by two-time Player of the Year Aleksandra Kazala. Kristen Largay and Kennedy Etheridge were also selected in the balloting.
The Eagles have won 15 of the last 17 Patriot League titles and advanced to the NCAA Championships a year ago. Head coach Barry Goldberg will be in his 30th season at AU.
Stanford is ranked first in the nation in the preseason poll by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The Cardinal has three returning first team All-Americans, including AVCA Player of the Year Kathryn Plummer.
American begins its 2018 schedule at home on Friday, August 24 against George Mason. The Eagles and Patriots will play at 7 PM.
