Silver Diner Signs Up More Than 3,400 Children in First Weeks of New Kids Club

From our friends at Silver Diner...

Just two weeks ago, Silver Diner launched a new program called Kids Club and more than 3,400 kids have signed up. Those participating will receive a free entrée for every five visits as well as rewards and collectibles. In addition, kids will receive a complimentary shake and entrée for their birthday.

Known for having a menu that appeals to everyone - including children, Executive Chef Ype Von Hengst has been recognized for his creative, innovative and healthy Silver Diner kids’ menu. So much so that the menu caught the attention of national organization ChildObesity180 and Tufts University who ran a study of children’s eating trends at the restaurant and concluded that Silver Diner is a national model that other restaurants should emulate. In addition, Silver Diner has a longstanding program, Eat Well Do Well, that links diners with local schools where schools earn extra funds for nutrition, health and fitness related programs. To date, Silver Diner has given away more than $1 million to area schools.

“Our smallest customers are very important to us,” said Von Hengst, who is also co-founder and co-owner of Silver Diner. “We developed this Kids Club based on both parents and children’s feedback.”

To join the Kids Club, kids (12 years or younger) can sign up at their local Silver Diner restaurants or online at silverdiner.com/kids. They’ll receive a card that they must present each time they dine at a Silver Diner. For every kids’ meal ($5 or more) purchased, they’ll present their card and earn a point. Every child who earns five points will earn a reward for a free kid’s entrée. The member can use the reward on either a kids or adult menu item up to $7.99 in value.

After swiping the card, the server will bring back the card along with a sealed envelope. The envelope will contain a collectible pin and possibly an instant prize. Instant prizes include a free shake or free entrée.

In addition, Silver Diner will host six special events throughout the year for Kids Club members. There will be special themes, activities and prizes. The inaugural event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14 from 6 PM - 8 PM at all Silver Diner locations, except BWI Airport.
