Israeli Newcomer Sababa Debuts Weekend Brunch Service May 12

Award-winning restaurateur Ashok Bajaj of Knightsbridge Restaurant Group is pleased to announce the debut of weekend brunch service at his newest venture, Sababa, located at 3311 Connecticut Avenue, NW. Guests can now enjoy Executive Chef Ryan Moore’s “modern Israeli” cuisine, which draws inspiration from the Middle East. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday, from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Guests can look forward to salads, hummus, mezze and kebabs off the regular menu along with a selection of Israeli breakfast favorites, which are available exclusively during brunch service. Signature small plates include Charred Eggplant with herbed labneh, pomegranate and pistachio; Roasted Halloumi with dates, honey and charred lemon; Israeli Salad with cucumber, tomato, onion, mango and pickled Sharon fruit; Grilled Sardine with feta, walnut and charred zucchini, and Taameya with fava bean falafel and harissa tahini. Israeli breakfast favorites include Shakshuka with poached egg and tomato-chili broth; Lamb & Eggs, served on pita with harissa hummus; Konafi French Toast with sweet labne and pistachio, as well as Foul Mudammas, served on hummus with poached egg. Menu items range in price from $7 to $16.

For the perfect beverage pairing, brunch-goers can select from a unique menu of house-made sodas, juices, and craft cocktails. House-made sodas and juices include Pomegranate-Rosehip Soda with sumac, rose and pepper; Lavender-Borage Soda with rosemary and lemon; Halva Juice with carrot juice, lemon, pistachio and cardamom, and the Haifa Juice with sundried tomato, red pepper and garlic and herbs. Non-alcoholic beverages range in price from $5 to $7. A selection of boozy cocktails is also available at brunch and include Ptolemy’s Lighthouse with sparkling wine, grapefruit, Capitoline and charred lemon; Zephyr Breeze with Cotton & Reed rum, pomegranate soda, rosehip and sumac; Phoenician Frappé with Green Hat gin, arak, mint, lavender, and borage, and the Halva World Away with Casamigos añejo, carrot, pistachio orgeat and cardamom. Cocktails are priced at $12 each.

Conveniently located just four miles north of the White House in Cleveland Park, Sababa at 3311 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20008 is close to the National Zoo, situated in one of the loveliest neighborhoods in Washington. Dinner is served Sunday through Thursday, from 5 PM to 10 PM; Friday and Saturday, from 5 PM to 11 PM. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday, from 11 AM to 3 PM.
