Bold Bite Market to Open in DC This September
Bold Family Restaurant Group’s new hybrid fast casual concept to bring the best of Bold Bite, 202 Donuts and TapaBar to Golden Triangle
Bold Bite Market will open on September 25, 2017 at 1028 19th Street, NW, between L and K. The fast-casual scratch-kitchen market concept will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, hand spun milkshakes, fries and gourmet fresh and packaged offerings from sister brands 202 Donuts and TapaBar.
Breakfast will feature bagels, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes and a complete 202 Donut shop with daily hand-made donuts in seasonal flavors. A full espresso bar will feature locally-roasted Vigilante Coffee, as well as nitro and regular cold brew coffee.
Lunch and dinner options include Bold Bite’s famous Certified Black Angus Hickory-Smoked Burgers and Split & Grilled DC Half-Smokes. Flexitarians and vegetarians also have lots to choose from including the satiating house- made falafel sandwiches and salads. Bold Bite’s salads and sandwiches are full of bold flavor, every ingredient is carefully curated and all sauces are made in-house.
“We built this concept knowing that convenience is king even amongst the very sophisticated palates of Washingtonians, so our customers only wait an average of five minutes per order because we do so much behind the scenes. We smoke our burgers every morning before grilling to the individual customer’s preference; we split our half-smokes to add flavor and cut down on grilling time; we prepare our falafels and crispy steak every morning; and our cooks are preparing sauces, jarring pickles, bottling beverages and baking donuts at dawn every morning,” said Bold Family Restaurant Co-Founder and Executive Chef Alonso Roche.
The market will feature gourmet grab-and-go selections to include TapaBar Spanish-Style Pickled Vegetables and 202 Donuts Arnold Palmers and Cold Brews, all are freshly prepared daily.
The physical space, about 2700 square feet, with 50 seats inside and 30 outside, will feature modern industrial décor with bold pops of red. A catering menu will offer fresh, fast and reasonably-priced fare for the many varied and discerning taste buds in the office.

About The Roche Brothers:
Alvaro and Alonso Roche started Bold Family Restaurant Group (BFRG, previously Capitol Food Restaurant Group) in 2011 when the brothers co-founded Bold Bite, the acclaimed casual dining spot with locations in Bethesda and Union Station. They then opened the gourmet coffee and donut shop 202 Donuts in Bethesda in 2014. In the fall of 2016, they opened the upscale authentic Spanish-style restaurant, TapaBar at 4901 Fairmont Avenue, Unit A, Bethesda, MD.
Chef Alonso Roche started his career as a television producer before embarking on his true passion of cooking. He attended the academy of cuisine in Bethesda almost 15 years ago and then spent many years working in kitchens around Washington including at Persimmon with Damian Salvartore and at Willow under Tracy O' Grady. After he spent two years working in Spain, he worked for "El Alambique" a traditional purveyor of Spanish cookwares and cooking school of Spanish food revising and co-writing books on Spanish food. He also worked at Zaranda under Fernando Arellano a 2-star Michelin chef in Mallorca.
Alvaro Roche worked for many years in the fashion industry as a designer living in Spain, Italy, and France. He founded his own company of children's clothes and grew it to a chain of 150 stores spread out over Latin America.
