Tortilladora Launches Tomorrow

Tortilladora Taco Kit

From our friends at Tortilladora...

Tortilladora to Begin Delivery Service Tomorrow

Celebrate Taco Tuesday with new, chef-driven taco kits and more

There’s a new taco in town with flavors as unique as its format. Beginning tomorrow, diners can order Tortilladora Taco Kits and sides from Caviar and Uber Eats.

Operating out of Union Kitchen, Tortilladora is the first solo venture for Chef Ed McIntosh, formerly Executive Chef of Matchbox Food Group, Great American Restaurants and Hillstone Restaurant Group.

The locally sourced, globally inspired menu is 100% gluten free with vegetarian options to spare. Just as a good sandwich begins with good bread, Tortilladora builds tacos on a foundation of corn tortillas, handmade to order.

Pork Tacos

Perfect for a stress-free, kid and date friendly dinner at home, Tortilladora Taco Kits are packaged in Chinese takeout boxes and delivered Monday through Friday, 4 PM to 10 PM and Saturday and Sunday 12 PM to 10 PM. Catering is available anytime, with 24 hours notice.

Shrimp Taco

Three separate containers maintain the integrity of each part of the taco and make the assembling process a breeze. One container holds tortillas, another contains the “hero” of the taco and a third holds garnishes including pickled red onion, roasted Fresno pepper, lime, cilantro, and roasted bok choy salad. Each kit receives all four of the housemade salsas: tamarind chipotle salsa, tomatillo ancho, pineapple sesame, and “the green.” The cooking challenged need not worry; explicit, easy-to-follow instructions make heating taco kits at home or microwaving at the office simple and delicious. McIntosh tested the kits to ensure flavor and textures are maintained, regardless of who is cooking.

Veggie Taco

The tacos, presented three to five to an order in unbreakable tortillas, highlight chef-driven variations: the slow braised pork taco with Chinese five spice and tamarind, the veggie taco with roasted heirloom carrots on a bed of butternut squash topped with goat cheese, a shrimp taco which combines roasted potato Korean tomato stew, and slow roasted beef “al pastor” taco with pineapple soy. A rotating taco of the week will also be featured on ordering menus. Tacos range in price from $12-$16.

Rice n' Beans

In addition to tacos, Tortilladora will offer McIntosh’s deluxe take on elote, a sweet corn roasted and chargrilled to order, drizzled with miso crema, and sprinkled with furikake, Korean chili flakes, a 50/50 blend of cotija and parmesan cheese, sesame seeds and cilantro. Another stand out side dish is the roasted potato salad with chunks of pickled jicama and Ivy City Smokehouse smoked salmon mixed together with miso crema sauce and topped with scallion, cilantro, radish, and poppy seeds, a take on Ed’s favorite german style potato salad from his childhood deli his Mom took him to each week. “Rice n’ beans” is a cross between sushi rice risotto with aged Parmigiano, mushrooms and ancho chile beans. Tortilladora’s made-to-order Sushi House Guac comes with Ivy City smoked salmon, wasabi peas, pickled ginger, scallion, lime, rice crackers and cilantro will fulfill the sushi vet or novice’s palate.

Tres Leches Cake

The sweet note at the end of the meal is a generous portion of gluten-free tres leches cake soaked in three types of milk and dusted with toasted coconut and fresh lime zest.
