EOD Warrior Foundation to Hold Warrior 5K and Half Marathon

From our friends at EOD Warrior Foundation...

EOD Warrior Foundation Will Be Holding a Run near the Nation's Capital to Help Raise Funds to Further Their Mission of Helping EOD Warriors

Those who would like a way to help the many explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) military members and their families can lace up their running shoes this month. The EOD Warrior Foundation will be the beneficiary of a 5K and Half Marathon on June 25, 2017 in Georgetown, Washington, DC. The race organizers, Bishops Events, have generously offered to make the EOD Warrior Foundation the beneficiary of these great events. Funds raised from the races will support the mission of helping EOD warriors and their families in need.

“Participating in a fundraising walk or run is a great way to make a positive impact supporting a cause you are passionate about,” explains Nicole Motsek, executive director of the EOD Warrior Foundation. “This is going to be a great event, and it’s for a great cause.”

The Warrior 5K and Half Marathon will be run on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Path, near the Nation’s Capitol. The half marathon begins at 8 AM, and the 5K begins at 8:30 AM. Walkers are welcome to participate in either event. There is also a virtual run option for those who would like to support the cause, but can’t make the race date or location. Each racer, including those doing the virtual run, will receive a race t-shirt and custom finisher medal. Race T-shirts are guaranteed for all who register by June 14. T-shirts for those who register after that date will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The race course will feature a scenic view with a flat surface that goes through the heart of Georgetown. Funds raised will be used to further the programs of the EOD Warrior Foundation, including financial assistance to warriors and their families, educational scholarships, therapeutic healing retreats, care of the EOD Memorial Wall, and more.

“Lace up your running or walking shoes, get outside and enjoy the gorgeous views these events have to offer, and know you are participating in something that is helping military service men and women and their families,” adds Motsek. “Whether you are going to participate in the 5K or half marathon, it’s a great way to give back to those who have given so much.”
