The Purge: Election Year Movie Review

Frank Grillo & Elizabeth Mitchell (r) star in The Purge: Election Year

Is Murder Our New Religion?

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Writer/director James DeMonaco returns for the third installment of the franchise starring Frank Grillo.

Big brother warns, "We're going to use this year's purge to do some spring cleaning." Sounds like a good night to go out on the town... not. Just ask Mykelti Williamson, who poses the $64,000 question, "What in the Mississippi fuck was you doing outside on purge night?" Lucky for us, common sense takes a back seat in The Purge: Election Year, a timely threequel that delivers plenty of chills and (depending on your audience) laughs... in between beheadings and candy cravings. The first half is borderline great (especially Williamson) but the final 45 minutes drifts a bit off course.
