I hated to miss yesterday's Opening Ceremony of the
Smithsonian Folklife Festival; but
nothing could stop me from celebrating day two (earlier today) on the National Mall. This year's Festival highlights two areas on opposite sides of the Atlantic...
The Basque Country and our very own, sunny California. Weekday visits (not including July 4th, of course) are perfect for folks who prefer shorter lines, and closer access to stage performances and stellar sports demos (when was the last time you saw Stone Lifting, up close and personal?) The Festival continues through Sunday, July 10th with a two-day hiatus next Tuesday & Wednesday, July 5-6. Visit the
Festival website for a full schedule of events and more details.
