Smashburger Franchisee to Open First DC Franchised Location in Rockville on April 6

Local residents can savor the "best burger" on Rockville Pike

Smashburger, the nation’s fastest growing “better burger” concept, is thrilled to announce the arrival of its Rockville, Maryland, location at 1800 Rockville Pike on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. The restaurant will open at 10:00 AM.

This will be the better burger concept’s first franchised location in metropolitan Washington. As president and owner of Ashford Holdings East LLC, Smashburger Rockville franchisee Julian Goodman introduced the first Firehouse Subs to the greater Ohio market. Goodman’s vast knowledge and successes led to accolades such as being named Firehouse Subs “Franchisee of the Year” as well as a National Catering Committee Chair member. Following Firehouse Subs, Julian was interested in exploring franchise options in additional categories within the fast-casual sector and thought Smashburger would be a great fit for expanding in the DC metropolitan area. The Rockville location will be the first of a five store Smashburger development deal.

This new Smashburger in Rockville will feature a menu created with regional flavors and tastes in mind. The menu includes the Capital Burger, Smashburger’s juicy burger and chicken sandwich topped with grilled onions, aged Swiss cheese, baby arugula, applewood-smoked bacon, tomatoes and mayo on a brioche bun.

At Smashburger, the secret is in the smash. It starts with 100-percent - fresh, never frozen, all-natural Certified Angus Beef and is smashed on a 400-degree flat grill to sear in the juicy flavor. To further the “better burger” experience, the delicious burgers are served on toasted artisan buns and topped with a selection of the freshest produce, real cheeses, and highest-quality condiments.

Smashburger has over 360 restaurant locations across the United States and is more than just burgers. Customers can also enjoy a selection of tender marinated grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches and fresh-tossed signature salads, along with a variety of irresistible sides including rosemary and garlic–seasoned Smashfries, Haystack Onions, and Veggie Frites (flash-fried and seasoned carrot sticks and green beans). The restaurant will also serve a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages ranging from handspun shakes to root-beer floats in frosted mugs.

The 2,000 square foot Rockville restaurant, which has dining room seating for 50 guests and patio seating for 20, will be the sixth location to open in Maryland.
