Men's Basketball: Lehigh 65 American 50

Men's Hoops Falls to Lehigh on Saturday

Junior Paris Maragkos had 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting, but Lehigh built off its nine-point halftime lead and came away with a 65-50 win on Saturday afternoon at Bender Arena.

Freshman Delante Jones had 12 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals for the Eagles in a gritty performance. Senior Jesse Reed added 13 points in 38 minutes.

Austin Price led the Mountain Hawks with 16 points in 39 minutes. He also grabbed seven rebounds in the winning effort. Jesse Chuku had a game-best 10 rebounds and nine points while Kyle Leufroy and Kahron Ross also finished in double figures.

The Mountain Hawks outrebounded the Eagles, 36-28, scored 21 points off turnovers and had 12 fast break points.

Lehigh led the whole way and had its largest advantage late in the contest. The visitors led by nine (35-26) at the half and shot 47 percent in the contest.

Leon Tolksdorf (#13) led American with 6 rebounds

American finished the game shooting 37 percent from the field and made seven three-point baskets. The Eagles kept the game close throughout the opening 20 minutes and held the deficit under double digits until 13:46 remaining in the second stanza when Chuku hit a jumper.

Patriot League Player of the Year Tim Kempton struggled

Late in the contest, Reed and freshman Andrija Matic both connected triples, but the Mountain Hawks scored six of the final eight points to secure the win.
