The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 Movie Review

Jennifer Lawrence & Liam Hemsworth (r) star in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

A Celebration of Suffering

IMDb Plot: As the war of Panem escalates to the destruction of other districts by the Capitol, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) the reluctant leader of the rebellion, must bring together an army against President Snow (Donald Sutherland) while all she holds dear hangs in the balance. Directed by Francis Lawrence. Also stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Effie Trinket (Banks) promises, "It's bound to be quite the show," but The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 isn't. It's 137 minutes of pure, unadulterated boredom... a brooding, unsatisfactory conclusion to a once-promising series, that puts the s-a-g-a in saga. Director Lawrence prefers talking about favorite colors over action; and what little there is, goes by so fast, you won't even notice who dies. Even worse, all the interesting characters are practically ignored, in favor of cheesy special effects, a pint-sized, supposed bad boy (Hutcherson) and enough talking to make a politician blush (even Trump.) Thank goodness it's finally over.
