Preseason All-American Bryson Fonville (#5) leads Catholic |
From our friends at Catholic University Athletics...
The Catholic University of America men's basketball team has been ranked No. 6 in the country in the D3Hoops.com Top-25 poll, the preferred ranking of NCAA Division III. The poll is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors and media members from across the country.
Head coach Steve Howes and the Cardinals finished No. 23 in the nation in 2014-15 after its win in the NCAA First Round and 23-6 overall record. Catholic returns 100-percent of its scoring and rebounding from that team, including all five starters and sixth man.
CUA already has as many as four games against teams at least receiving votes in the top-25 poll. The Cards are scheduled to play at No. 21 Dickinson on December 11 and will play a home-and-home series against Landmark foe Scranton, which is receiving votes.
The Cardinals also travel to Ohio for No. 11 Marietta's 45th Annual Shrine Tournament. Should both teams advance in their opening games, the second-day matchup has the potential to be an early-season showcase of top-10 teams.

Preseason All-American Bryson Fonville, the reigning Landmark Player of the Year, heads a four-player senior class as they look to lead Catholic in its season-opener in three weeks against Neumann on Saturday, November 14, at 2 p.m.
