Welcome to Me Movie Review

Kristen Wiig stars in Shira Piven's Welcome to Me

I'm a Winner

IMDb Plot: A year in the life of Alice Klieg (Kristen Wiig) a woman with Borderline Personality Disorder who wins Mega-millions, quits her meds and buys her own talk show.

Wiig plays a wonderful whacko (yes, I'm politically incorrect) a role, which makes great use of her many comedic talents. Alice longs to be in front of the camera... so much so, she plunks down $15 million to become the next Oprah. It's me, me, me; but I must admit, it's oddly charming. Uncontrollable crying (very funny) mispronunciations and a bevy of prepared statements... In the hands of anyone else, it wouldn't work; but Wiig turns an SNL skit into 88 minutes of simultaneous joy and pain. "Let's castrate!" Who says narrative infomercials/train wrecks aren't fun to watch?
