Domestic Terrorism and Hate Crimes Exhibit Photo Recap

Normally, a trip to the Crime Museum would generate feelings of excitement (it's one of my favorite museums in all of DC) but yesterday's visit (to see the new Domestic Terrorism and Hate Crimes exhibit) required a certain level of respect and reflection. It's not grand in scale; but it's easily the most powerful/sentimental stop in the museum.

The exhibit highlights terrorist attacks on American soil, as well as hate crimes. Not exactly something one looks forward to seeing; but like it or not, it's part of our country's history. On display... rubble from the World Trade Center on 9/11 and letters sent by the Unabomber (Ted Kaczynski) in addition to a ceremonial Ku Klux Klan robe and many other reminders of horrors past.

Coming soon at the Crime Museum... Wildlife Trafficking: Are You Contributing to the Trade? opens in June; and later... Art Crimes: Forgeries, Heists & Cultural Property Theft. Sadly, there's never a shortage of criminal activity to showcase. It may not be cheerful, but at least it's interesting.
