George Washington University's A Cappella Group Receives Harlem Globetrotters' "Trotter Tribute"

The world famous Harlem Globetrotters are honoring the GW Troubadours from George Washington University with a "Trotter Tribute," in acknowledgment of their a cappella rendition of the Globetrotters’ iconic theme song "Sweet Georgia Brown." The video was posted this week as a welcome to the Globetrotters who play Washington, D.C., and Fairfax on March 13-14.

The GW Troubadours are the first non-sports-related recipients of the Trotter Tribute, which traditionally honors athletes whose play calls to mind the dazzling showmanship of "the world’s most famous team."

"The next time we take the court, I’m sure we’ll have the GW Troubadours’ version of ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’ in our heads," said Globetrotters’ Showman Big Easy Lofton. "What a welcome into the nation’s capital."

The "Trotter Tribute" is designed to recognize amazing and entertaining feats. Members of the media often refer to unbelievable moments as "Globetrotter-esque," signifying fantastic athletic feats, as well as the unique trademark the team has emblazoned in incorporating entertainment into sports. The Globetrotters will play three games in the D.C. area this weekend, including the Patriot Center on Friday, March 13 at 7 PM, and a doubleheader on Saturday, March 14 at the Verizon Center (1 PM) and Patriot Center (7:30 PM.). Tickets are available at each arena box office or online at harlemglobetrotters.com.
