The Divergent Series: Insurgent Movie Review

Theo James & Shailene Woodley (r) star in Insurgent

Go in Happiness

IMDb Plot: Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley) must confront her inner demons and continue her fight against a powerful alliance which threatens to tear her society apart with the help from others on her side.

Another dystopian yarn bites the dust. I enjoyed Divergent, but Insurgent follows The Hunger Games and countless others into an abyss of gunfire, impossibility and predictability. Seriously, I half-expected Jennifer Lawrence to pop up and join the party. Woodley's no action hero, but remains fun to watch; and Miles Teller provides a few laughs. Otherwise we're left with, "Where's your scary boyfriend?" "Probably doing scary boyfriend things." Ugh. If I want to watch The Matrix, I'll watch The Matrix. Ditto for The Hunger Games. P.S. Skip the 3D version: It's more expensive, and only blurs the background. Teens only.
