Solas Nua Celebrates 10th Annual Irish Book Day, March 17

From our friends at Solas Nua...

Please come out and join Solas Nua on Irish Book Day, March 17, as our volunteers celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by giving away an original collection of contemporary Irish writing called “Here’s the Story” at Metro stations around the city.

Solas Nua is the only U.S. organization dedicated exclusively to contemporary Irish arts. One of our signature programs is Irish Book Day, when we distribute thousands of books by emerging Irish authors at several Metro stations in D.C. This year the book is our own compilation of short stories and poems by some of Ireland's leading literary lights (including its current president). Published by Dublin-based Liberties Press, Here's the Story" is funded by the D.C. Commission for the Arts and Humanities and D.C. Friends of Ireland and produced for Solas Nua.

Since 2005, Solas Nua has brought new Irish plays and playwrights, books and authors, music and musicians and other contemporary arts and artists to Washington audiences year-round.

On St. Patrick’s Day, we offer DC residents a way to celebrate great Irish traditions that is more meaningful and memorable than a few plastic cups of green beer. We want to remind people that Irish heritage encompasses much more than a visit to the pub.
