Bastille to Host Iconic Winemaker's Dinner 11/18

Exemplary Wines Showcased in Old Town Alexandria

WHAT: A four-course feast with renowned wine pairings from the wines of Flaurent Baumard (France), Telmo Rodriguez (Spain), Finca Decero (Argentina), Dog Point Winery (New Zealand) and Disznókö (Hungary). Chefs Christophe and Michelle will pair their contemporary French cuisine with wines that emanate well-placed vineyards with microclimates favorable to specific types of grapes, emphasizing low yields and superior fruit. Christianna Sargent will provide expertise on the intricacies of the wines from these revolutionary winemakers who all share one overwhelming trait- the pursuit of excellence.

The four-course menu with pairings is as follows:

•  Amuse bouche; Chenin Blanc, Cremant de Loire Baumard

•  "Homard au curry," Maine Lobster braised in a curried coconut broth, carrots, celeriac and Napa cabbage, cashews, and coriander; Riesling, Chateau Montelena

•  "Ventreche de porc aux pruneaux," Shenandoah Valley pork belly with prunes, royal trumpet mushrooms, and rapini; Pinot Noir, Dog Point Vineyard

•  "Joues de boeuf en daube," twelve-hour grass-fed Angus Beef cheeks in a syrah, spice & cocoa sauce with olives, lardons & orange, potato gnocchi, sunchokes and cipoline; Petit Verdot, "Decero" Remolinos Vineyard-Agrelo

•  Ricotta tart with caramelized pear, hazelnut crisp, and honey ice cream. Tokaji "Late Harvest,"Disznókö
