Verizon Center provided a sneak peak of its new line of concessions to a lucky group of select season ticket holders and media yesterday, just before today's Washington Capitals' pre-season battle with rival Philadelphia. Put simply, we've come a long way from hot dogs, pizza and popcorn. Odds are, you're gonna love the new additions.
New to the lineup: Power Grill now offers the "Monumental" Burger (Hoffman's Farms grass-fed, fresh beef burger with Monterey-Jack cheese, jalapeño ranch dressing, bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun) and the simpler Hoffman's Farms Grass-fed, Fresh Cheddar Burger with lettuce and tomato on the aforementioned brioche bun. Also featured, a scrumptious looking Hoffman's Farms Chesapeake Chicken Sausage (grilled peppers and onions on a potato roll.)

Seafood is now available on the main concourse, thanks to new concept Captain Ahab's. If you like fried fish, look no further. Choose from Fish and Chips, Fried Shrimp and Chips, Po' Boy Sandwich (your choice of cod or shrimp with lettuce, tomato pepper relish (tasty!) and chipotle aioli on a sourdough roll) and my favorite of the day... Crab Cake Sandwich (lump crabmeat, lettuce, tomato and chipotle aioli on a brioche bun.)

Last but certainly not least, the Sandwich District now offers NY Deli Style Corned Beef or Pastrami sandwiches, sliced to order with cole slaw, Swiss Cheese and either spicy mustard or thousand island on rye bread. Both sammies are served with pickles and chips. Also new, Sandwich District's Build Your Own Salad Station, with lots (and lots) of topping options.
