Gone Girl Movie Review

Ben Affleck (l) stars in David Fincher's Gone Girl

Amazing Amy

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: GONE GIRL - directed by David Fincher and based upon the global bestseller by Gillian Flynn - unearths the secrets at the heart of a modern marriage. On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick's portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

And the Oscar goes to... Too soon, perhaps; but Gone Girl has all the makings of an award magnet this season. Affleck and Pike are sensational in this back & forth thriller, brilliantly brought to life on the big screen by Fincher. Superb writing ("We're so cute: I want to punch us in the face") paves the way for brilliant performances across the board (even Tyler Perry is terrific.) Timely laughs (Carrie Coon, "Octopus and Scrabble") and brilliant pacing (149 minutes flies by) add to the fun; while Emily Ratajkowksi stuns in a sexy cameo. You're gonna love it.
