DC Shot of the Day: “Oh, It’s You, Welcome” Statue

Next year marks the 15th anniversary of “Oh, It’s You, Welcome,” a nifty 450-pound bronze statue dedicated to the memory of former Montgomery County Police Chief Col. James S. McAuliffe, Sr., who passed away in 1996. It's located at the corner of Hills Plaza and South Park Avenue, near the Village of Friendship Heights; and was created by renowned sculptor John Seward Johnson II (The Awakening.) In addition to serving as a colorful crime deterrent (we're still waiting on tangible statistics, to back that claim) it makes for an awesome photo op. P.S. Not everyone thinks he's a statue: Stick around for some potentially priceless reactions.
