Let's Be Cops Movie Review

Jake Johnson & Damon Wayans, Jr. (r) in Let's Be Cops

Some Next Level Sh*t

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: It's the ultimate buddy cop movie except for one thing: they're not cops. When two struggling pals dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted "heroes" get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.

Starring: Jake Johnson, Damon Wayans, Jr., Andy GarcĂa, Nina Dobrev, Rob Riggle, Keegan-Michael Key and James D'Arcy. Director: Luke Greenfield. 104 minutes. Rated R for language including sexual references, some graphic nudity, violence and drug use.

16% on Rotten Tomatoes? Note to critics: Loosen up! Johnson & Wayans delight in Let's Be Cops, an underachiever's cinematic wet dream. Greenfield takes one note, and stretches it into 100+ minutes of absolute hilarity. Sure it stumbles towards the end (Russian mobsters = dull) but the first hour or so is comic gold: Think Night at the Roxbury meets Miami Vice. It's easy to relate to (who wouldn't want to be a cop?) and the stunts they pull, are relatively harmless. P.S. Nina Dobrev is SUPER HOT. As long as you don't take it too seriously, Let's Be Cops rocks.
