Global Fashion Retailer Opens New Location in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, August 7th

Doors Open at Noon

H & M, Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M), one of the world’s largest fashion retailers known for offering fashion-forward apparel and quality basics, is excited to announce the opening of a new store at 1133 Connecticut Avenue in the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District section of the city.

Opening Thursday, August 7th at noon, H&M at 1133 Connecticut Avenue will give shoppers in the Washington D.C. area access to the latest trends at the best prices. The new location will offer collections for ladies, men, young ladies and young men, with separate “store within store” sections for accessories, lingerie, sports apparel, and its plus-size line, H&M+.

H&M is the first fashion company to roll out a global garment recycling program. Through this initiative, H&M customers at 1133 Connecticut Avenue can help save natural resources and contribute to a reduced environmental impact by donating unwanted pieces of clothing from any brand while in the store. Customers will receive a voucher for 15% off their entire purchase for each bag of donated clothing.

To kick off the recycling program on opening day, customers who bring garments to be recycled before the store opens at noon will also have the chance to win H&M gift cards valued between $50 and $100 in addition to receiving the voucher.

In celebration of opening day, H&M at 1133 Connecticut Avenue will offer the first 100 shoppers in line an H&M t-shirt and Access to Fashion Pass, valued from $10 to $300, in addition to other opening offers and fun giveaways!

H&M will also be partnering again this year with Mentor Foundation USA, a leading international organization which works to prevent substance abuse in young people and is based in Washington D.C. H&M and Mentor Foundation USA will be hosting a T-shirt slogan campaign to encourage high school students to express what motivates them to stay drug free now, and in the future. The first place winner will have their slogan printed on T-shirts designed by H&M, will receive 200 of the winning T-shirts to share with their high school, and will receive a $200.00 H&M gift card. The winning T-shirt will also be sold on-line at hm.com to help raise awareness and funds to support Mentor Foundation USA’s mission, to empower young people to make healthy decisions and avoid drug abuse. The contest will begin on August 26th, 2014 and conclude on November 15th, 2014.
