DC United wins its fifth MLS championship? United (11-5-4) won its
third straight match last night, dominating
Chivas USA 3-1 before an appreciative crowd of 13,732 at RFK Stadium. The win snapped Chivas' four-game winning streak, and allowed DC United to stay one point behind
Sporting Kansas City (with a game in hand) in the Eastern Conference standings.
Eddie Johnson got the ball rolling early, scoring on a penalty kick in the 25th minute. It was Johnson's third goal of the season, and second straight game with a PK score. Johnson narrowly missed a header almost 20 minutes later (it hit the crossbar) but assisted on
Perry Kitchen's tally in the 59th minute, that put United up 2-0.

Erick Torres scored on a penalty kick with six minutes left in regulation to end fellow MLS All-Star
Bill Hamid's shutout bid. Hamid, making his 100th MLS appearance was named to the All-Star team the night before: Hamid (7-5-3) has been sensational this season, accounting for four clean sheets already.
