Ted’s BULLETIN Coming to Gaithersburg at Crown Farm

From our friends at Ted's BULLETIN...

Fifth Location Part of Mixed-Use Community

matchboxfoodgroup is excited to announce its latest expansion plan with a fifth location of Teds BULLETIN. The new Teds will be the first in Maryland, located in the Crown Farm development a short distance from the Shady Grove Metro station, east of the intersection of Washington National Pike (Rt 270) and Sam Eig Highway (Rt 370). The newest Teds is expected to open in early 2015.

The restaurant will be similar to its predecessors in Washington DC & Northern Virginia with around 180 seats, equipped with diner style counter seating and a bakery perfect for producing Teds famous homemade Pop-Tarts and other nostalgic bakery treats. The new Teds BULLETIN will stay true to the brand’s 1930s art deco style atmosphere and diner setting that has been hosting guests since 2010.

“We never expected to have even one opportunity to expand Ted’s, a concept born out of the memory of my father, but to have built the concept in the region is truly amazing,” said Ty Neal, principal partner of the matchboxfoodgroup. “We are so grateful to the communities that have embraced us and made Ted’s such a success. Crown Farm will be an amazing destination and we’re excited to be a part of the grand opening.”

Located on 182 aces, the suburban neighborhood will follow the current trend in housing, creating a space for people to live, work and play without having to travel to the big city. The development will include four separate neighborhoods, six parks, retail, restaurants, grocery store, fitness center, and a community swimming pool and clubhouse. Though still under construction, Crown is expected to open spring 2014.

Teds BULLETIN, which first opened on 8th Street SE in July of 2010, quickly became a DC favorite. Serving adult milkshakes and homemade Pop-Tarts, put them on the map as a must try restaurant. Teds was awarded the Best Neighborhood Gathering Spot by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington in 2011 and was again nominated for Best Casual Brunch spot in 2014. Open Table diners voted Teds into the Top 100 Best Brunches in America and Top 100 Kid-Friendly restaurants in 2013 and 2014 respectively. USA Today declared Teds a classic DC restaurant as well as some of the best milkshakes in America.

About:
matchboxfoodgroup operates three concepts under the leadership of partners Ty Neal, Mark Neal and Andrew Kim.

matchbox is an American bistro, the first of which opened in 2003 in Washington DC’s Chinatown, followed by locations in Palm Springs, CA, Capitol Hill, Rockville, MD, 14th Street NW, in DC and Mosaic District in Merrifield, VA.

Ted’s BULLETIN, a family restaurant, inspired by Ty and Mark’s father, was the second concept from the group, opening in 2010 on Capitol Hill, on 14th Street in 2013, and in Virginia’s Reston Town Center in January 2014.  Ted’s re-imagines a 1920’s diner and serves nostalgic American fare. The group plans to expand further into Virginia next at the Mosaic District in Merrifield.

DC-3 captures the spirit of the American hot-dog, offering variations on classics found all over the country. DC-3 is located on Capitol Hill and has proudly served the people of Washington since 2010.
