Photo Recap: Passport DC - Around the World Embassy Tour

It's May, and that can only mean the return of Passport DC! Cultural Tourism DC kicked off its seventh annual celebration of international culture in the nation's capital, with the first of back-to-back Saturdays inside more than 75 area embassies... all for free. Next week, it's Shortcut to Europe; but today, it was time to celebrate the Around the World Embassy Tour. 50+ countries, across six continents with long lines outside the embassies of Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Pakistan, Ukraine and many others. We stopped by the Thai Open House at 1024 Wisconsin Avenue, NW in Georgetown; and enjoyed live music, tasty food and trivia. It was crowded, but it took less than a minute to get inside (no ID required) and I'm betting this was the only place in town giving away free massages all day!

Be sure to circle next Saturday (May 10th) on your calendar, as the European Union Embassies' Open House returns from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. "Experience the best of European culture without the jet lag," as 27 member nations open their embassies to even bigger crowds. Click here to discover what each country has in store for you... Belgium (free candy) rocks, as does Finland and my personal favorite The Netherlands. Italy and the UK traditionally have the longest lines; but don't forget to stop by Sweden and the EU headquarters. To be honest, there isn't a bad visit in the lot. Quite possibly the best free event in DC.
