Photo Recap: Awesome Con - Day 2

"Jeepers Creepers!" The Creeper shows off some of his handiwork

In a Word... Awesome

It's not often that I find myself at a loss for words; but it took yours truly a good 30 minutes to "settle in" at the second annual Awesome Con... quite simply the most amazing (dare I say awesome?) event to hit the nation's capital in a long, long time. Just when you think you've seen it all, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center manages to one-up itself: Hey Comic-Con, watch your back!

Awesome Con opened yesterday, and continues through tomorrow (click here to purchase tickets.) Today was definitely the day to visit however; as thousands of fans (literally) wrapped around the block to get in. Plenty of celebrities were on hand to conduct Q&A panels and sign autographs... Sean Astin, Dirk Benedict, Count Gore de Vol, Ron Glass, Ernie Hudson and Kevin Sorbo; and giddy fans jumped at the chance to meet/see them.

Erin Gray (still lovely at 64) was there too; but an overzealous (and undersized) handler wanted me to ask for permission before taking a photo. Needless to say, you won't find any shots of Ms. Gray on DC Outlook. Ditto for Cary Elwes, who required a "closed curtain" to sign his $50 autographs... Heaven forbid, anyone would (want to) take a picture of the once semi-famous "star" without anteing up. Outside of that, you couldn't ask for a more fan-friendly experience. If Awesome Con continues to grow and improve (as it did over last year) then next year is going to be insane.
