GW Men's Hoops Remains Perfect at Home, Downs Duquesne, 71-57
Colonials Assist on 23-of-26 Field Goals to Win 12th Straight at Smith Center
GW men's basketball had four players score in double figures and assisted on 23-of-26 field goals to remain unbeaten at home this season with a 71-57 victory over Duquesne on Wednesday.
GW (18-4, 6-2 A-10) improved to 11-0 at home this season and won its 12th straight at the Charles E. Smith Center, which ties for the seventh longest home win streak in the program's 100-season history.

Sophomore Patricio Garino led all players with 17 points and added five rebounds, four assists and two blocks, and senior Isaiah Armwood recorded his eighth double-double of the season and sixth in eight A-10 games with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Kevin Larsen chipped in 13 points, seven boards, four assists and two steals, and senior Nemanja Mikic had 11 points and three 3-pointers.
The Colonials regained the services of graduate student Maurice Creek and sophomore Joe McDonald after they missed Saturday's game at Dayton, and the backcourt duo combined for nine assists and 10 rebounds.

GW built a 30-11 lead after 12 minutes of play on the strength of a 14-1 run powered by four unanswered three pointers. Leading 16-10 with 10:52 left in the half, McDonald and Mikic hit triples around a pair of freshman Nick Griffin threes, then Armwood capped the run with a layin for the Colonials' largest lead of the contest with 7:48 to play before halftime.
Duquesne (10-11, 2-6 A-10) pulled within 36-30 at the break behind the hot shooting of Micah Mason, who hit a trio of threes and scored all 11 of his points in the final 6:07 of the period. The Dukes managed to get even closer at 44-39 on an Ovie Soko three-point play with 13:57 remaining, but that's as close as they would get.

The Colonials responded with a 14-4 spurt - buoyed by Mikic's third triple, a three-point play by Garino and a pair of baskets from Larsen - to surge ahead 58-43 with 5:17 left. GW punctuated the victory with a trio of late dunks - one by Armwood and two by Larsen via assists from Garino - to capture its third consecutive win over Duquesne.
Dominique McKoy led the Dukes with 14 points, while Soko posted a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double. No other player scored more than four points for Duquesne, which finished at 34 percent (20-59) from the field, including an icy 0-for-13 behind the arc and 27.8 percent from the floor in the second half.
The 57 points were the second-fewest scored by the Dukes this season as the Colonials improved to 8-0 when holding their opponent under 60 points.
Six Colonials - Creek, Larsen, McDonald, Mikic, junior John Kopriva and sophomore Paris Maragkos - were recognized prior to the game for appearing on the 2013 GW Athletics Academic Dean's List.
