5 Must-Try Old-World Italian Dishes at Rialto

From our friends at Rialto...

According to the National Restaurant Association, the 980,000 restaurant locations around the nation bring in around $1.8 billion collectively on a typical day. We are a country of people who love to dine out. We have options on every street corner, and often our selection of where to go and what to eat is dictated merely by repeating habits. Next time, rather than sticking with the same old boring restaurant and dishes, consider trying something new, such as Rialto, where you will find Old World Italian dishes with a contemporary flair thrown into the mix!

“It’s fun and interesting to try new places and dishes,” explains Ryan Fichter, the executive chef at Rialto, a new Italian restaurant in Georgetown. “We have created some great dishes that will provide a culinary vacation for your taste buds. They are must-tries for anyone who considers themselves a foodie or just loves Italian cuisine.”

Here are 5 must-try dishes at the new Rialto restaurant:
1. Seppia with ink sauce – This a bigger version of calamari – featuring grilled cuttle fish with an ink sauce.
2. The olives. This is a dish for anyone who loves olives. Get a warm brick-oven mixed olive jar.
3. Rissoto Milanese – Featuring saffron with dello Russo Sausage (house made sausage) with asparagus and semi-cured tomatoes.
4. Margherita de Buffalo. Boring Friday-night pizza, move aside! This is going to take you clear to Venice. This is what pizza is all about. Featuring imported Italian mozzarella.
5. Zeppole. Warm sugared doughnuts with raspberry jam. A simple and tasty treat to top off your meal.

“With the irresistible menu we have put together, it’s hard to choose which are the best selections,” adds Chef Fichter. “You really can’t go wrong with any of them. They are all delicious. It just depends on what you are in the mood for, on any given day.”

Rialto is the third restaurant that the trio of entrepreneurs has opened, and is located in the heart of Georgetown at 2915 M Street NW, in an historic building that provides world-class Italian food and an upscale atmosphere. The décor is unique, custom made, and most of the items have been imported from Europe. The restaurant features partially open kitchens, fresh pasta, imported specialty ingredients, fresh seafood, and a cheese counter. The menu offers a variety of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options, served in both family style and piatti style (small plates) to encourage sharing.
