T.J. Maxx Grand Opening in Georgetown, Set for Tomorrow

Finally, someone's going into the Shops at Georgetown Park, instead of the other way around. Discount retailer T.J. Maxx celebrates its grand opening at the iconic (and redeveloping) Georgetown mall tomorrow at 8:00 AM. Fashionistas in Georgetown? Say it ain't so!
T.J. Maxx will partner with Home Goods, a home fashions (furniture, mirrors, pillows, etc.) retailer that advertises savings at up to 60% off... You know the deal. Co-owners Vornado Realty Trust and Angelo Gordon & Co. have been busy for the past couple of years demolishing the mall's interior. The idea... to switch from small, mostly independent retailers to big-box, national chains such as Bloomingdale's and Target. Target is the big catch; but they've been recently linked to the former ESPN Zone space at 11th & E Streets, NW.

Georgetown isn't the only new destination for T.J. Maxx. Next month, the Jenifer Street location in Friendship Heights moves across the street (literally) to Mazza Gallerie, into the former digs of the much-missed Filene's Basement. I had hopes for a Marshall's, but c'est la vie.

Hours at the new T.J. Maxx/Home Goods will be 9:30 AM - 9:30 PM, Monday through Saturday, and 11-8 on Sundays. Need more information? Give them a call at (202) 333-1040.
