Tiger Bows Out of AT&T National

Is it really a party, if the host doesn't come? Tiger Woods has dropped out of next week's AT&T National golf tournament at Congressional Country Club, due to a nagging left elbow injury.

"I was examined after I returned home from the U.S. Open, and the doctors determined I have a left elbow strain," Woods wrote on his website. "I have been advised to take a few weeks off, rest and undergo treatment. I'll be ready to go for the British Open, and I'm looking forward to playing at Muirfield."

The injury was clearly evident in last week's US Open, and Woods has decided to rest until the Open Championship next month at Muirfield. His absence marks the third time Woods has missed his own tournament since it began in 2007 ('08 - knee, '11 - Achilles tendon.) The tourney, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation takes place next week with practice rounds on Tuesday, the AT&T National Pro-Am on Wednesday and tournament play Thursday through Sunday, June 30th. Despite losing the defending champion (Woods) the 132 player field will feature Masters champion Adam Scott and US Open winner Justin Rose, among others. Click here to purchase tickets.
