Alexandria Food and Wine Festival 2013

It's not Dancing with the Stars, but... Let's Zumba!

You couldn't have planned a better day for the second annual Alexandria Food and Wine Festival than yesterday, the second day of summer. The weather was gorgeous, and tons of people turned out to drink, eat and be merry.

Having arrived straight from day one of Safeway's Barbecue Battle, I must admit I wasn't "hungry as a horse;" but judging by the lines I saw for Clyde's, La Tasca, Trademark and Walker's Grille... I was the only one who didn't have room for dessert (or anything else for that matter.) The one food I did want to try (Trademark's Bacon Candy) cost 2 tickets (the equivalent of $1.88) but unfortunately you had to purchase a minimum of 8 tickets for $15; and I didn't want to fork over 15 bucks for a few pieces of bacon... even though they looked really delicious. I'll be sure to come earlier (and hungrier) next year.

All that food was bound to make any good festival goer thirsty. A total of 15 wineries were on hand... and it was a packed tent like none I've ever seen. A sprinkle of artisans, music acts, Zumba dancing and even a moonbounce for the kids rounded out the day's entertainment. I can't wait to see what's in store for next year: It's safe to say Alexandria has a hit on its hands.
