GW Hosts Butler, Homecoming

Brad Stevens and Butler make their first visit to Smith Center

Butler. Homecoming. Sellout. It doesn't get much better than this. Or does it? How about a free pre-game tailgate at FedEx Plaza (across from Smith Center behind Funger & Duques Halls) beginning at 11:00 AM? That's what's in store for Colonial fans this Saturday, as the 14th ranked Butler Bulldogs visit Charles E. Smith Center for a homecoming showdown with your George Washington Colonials. Tip-off for the sold-out game is 2:00 PM.

The Colonials have won four of their last five games (all in conference) including a 79-57 thumping of Duquesne (7-15, 0-8 A-10) last night. Lasan Kromah had a stellar outing, leading GW with 19 points and four steals. Fellow senior Isiah Armwood registered his sixth double-double of the season, chipping in 14 points and a team-leading 13 rebounds. GW is now 11-10 overall and a stellar 5-3 in A-10 play. Meanwhile, Butler comes in with an even better 19-4 (6-2 A-10) mark. The Bulldogs have posted impressive wins over Gonzaga, Marquette, North Carolina and top-ranked Indiana; but have two A-10 losses on the road versus La Salle and Saint Louis. Could today be number three?

Today's game will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic Plus and broadcast live on FederalNewsRadio.com and 1500 FM/820 AM.

P.S. All fans are invited to the pre-game tailgate at FedEx Plaza: Food will be served between 11 and 1. With today's sellout, fans are encouraged to arrive early. Last but not least, GW is asking those in attendance to bring a non-perishable food item to help feed the area's hungry. Collection areas will be available at all entrances.
