Smith-efficiency: Senior Leads GW Past VMI

Joe McDonald scored 7 points with 5 boards & 4 dimes

Dwayne Smith scored a season-high 18 points in just 12 minutes, helping the George Washington Colonials snap a three-game losing streak by topping VMI 76-67 before 1,753 at Charles E. Smith Center. The win improved GW's record to 5-6 with two non-conference games remaining before starting their A-10 schedule on January 9th (versus St. Bonaventure.)

After scoring four points in the first half, Smith scored a whopping 14 in eight minutes. Smith shot 8-11 for the game, and chipped in three rebounds, a block and a trey. Talk about making the most of your time! Senior transfer Isaiah Armwood tied Smith for top scoring honors, and also led the Colonials with nine rebounds... part of a 48-33 advantage on the boards for GW. Freshmen center Kevin Larsen had a promising showing, grabbing seven rebounds to go with six points and a block in 23 minutes.
