| Soph Ben Diaz breaks away, scores to put UDC up 3-0 |
I've been to my fair share of soccer games, but never one with 15 total goals. The UDC Firebirds celebrated Senior Day with a thrilling 8-7 win over conference foe Molloy. After jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the second half, UDC saw Molloy storm back to cut the lead to one with just under three minutes remaining.
Senior Forward Adriel Garcia notched a first-half hat trick that paced the Firebirds to a 4-0 lead at halftime. Garcia finished the game with two assists and three goals, while sophomore Ben Diaz (pictured above) added a goal and three assists. Despite losing, the Molloy Lions finished the game with a 29-19 advantage in shots.
Today's attendance was 150. The win improved UDC's record to 5-7-2 (2-5-1 in the ECC) while Molloy slips to 5-9 overall. UDC has three games remaining on their schedule, including a final home game on October 26th versus Felician at 4:00 PM.
