Hoyas Top Penn State in College Soccer

Penn State defends against a Georgetown corner kick

The Georgetown Hoyas men's soccer team ran their record to 4-0 with a 2-1 victory over visiting Penn State this afternoon. Prize frosh Brandon Allen broke a 1-1 tie in the second half with a sizzling goal off the right goal post, just moments after the Nittany Lions' Marvin Ledgister tied things up with his first goal of the season.

The Hoyas dominated the first half (6-1 in shots, 1-0 on the scoreboard) thanks to a smothering defense and a clear advantage in team speed and aggressiveness. Penn State responded with renewed effort in the second half, but ultimately was outshot 20-8 for the game. Hoyas goalkeeper Tomas Gomez stopped PSU senior Julian Cardona on a breakaway attempt in the game's final minutes to secure the victory.

Georgetown, ranked 21st nationally will go on the road for a three-game stretch before returning home on September 16th to host the Penn Quakers (0-1) at North Kehoe Field.
